Marni Autumn/Winter 2012
This is the second installment of my
A&W timeless trends posts, excuse for the long wait. Check out the
previous one that I wrote here (full version) or the one recently done
for the411.ie (mini version) -
After the "Tough biker vibe" trend, this is the 2nd A/W trend that never ceased to become a thing of the past. In fact its definitely one of the widely used fabrics in everyday clothing. Definitely as of current you can see a lot of people wearing this maybe even at home because of the cold climate.
Click "read the rest" to read further into the post. See you after the jump!
Knitted apparel is definitely versatile! From plain cotton, merino wool to patterns like stripes. Its an apparel to be reckoned with. There's also a selection of jumpers, cardigans, jackets and blazers in knit form also. If you're feeling like burning your credit card then there's high fashion which from the likes of Emporio Armani, Marni, Burberry Prorsum and the others if you feel like it. This would be my favorite trend besides the biker trend since it offers a lot of comfort and if you pick one or a few wisely it can go for a long mile in your wardrobe for a lot of outfits.
Below are my selection from the highstreet that I think can form and follow the knitwear trend. The highstreet specially this A/W can bring more than you think. Some can evenly par with high fashion apparel if you can pick one wisely.
I've also included clickable links to the (names of) knitwear so you can see what price point are they in:
(Images from Zara, River Island and Topman's online shops respectively)
Knitwear from top (L - R) - Color block merino jumper (ZARA), Cream yoke pattern jumper (TOPMAN), Maroon structured jumper (ZARA), Red stripe jumper (RIVER ISLAND)
Knitwear from bottom (L - R) - Double breasted rib knit cardigan (ZARA), Burgundy pattern cardigan (TOPMAN), Textured stitch blazer (TOPMAN), Aran knit cardigan (RIVER ISLAND) - alt link (missing item)
Excuse the very last one, I quadrupled checked river island and still can't find the item. So I linked to another one similar to it.
Anyways first up is the color block jumper from zara. Slim fit and has a statement going on which is color blocking. It may be from last season's trends but it seems to be carrying over well this year also. You can pair it up with plain outfits to add some color. While the cream yoke jumper from topman has the same thing going also. Both can be dressed up or down.
After the statement jumpers comes the basics. You have another choice of the structured jumper from zara. But maroon seems to be more upbeat and cheerful for the weather ahead. It definitely looks luxurious with the knitwear style. Then comes the red stripe jumper from river island just screams "Moschino/Jean Paul Gautier with the nautical stripe pattern.
With the bottom four selection its a mix of printed cardigan to other styles of knits like (aran, cable knit, crochet, ribbed etc.). I like that on this one, the highstreet gives a lot of good options from the knitted jacket, cardigan and blazer styles. It will definitely give more versatility with your wardrobe especially the knitted blazer which can create a different dimension since its a little bit more unusual than your normal fabrics on blazers.
Also I think this season you should really take advantage of buying quality knits, since the highstreet seems to be churning a lot of good knitwear at the moment.
